Free Car Seat Safety Checks for Families

Stilly Valley Health Connections has staff certified as Child Passenger Safety Technicians (CPSTs) who are available by appointment to assess the safety of your car seat.

About Car Seat Safety Checks

Car seat safety checks help parents and caregivers in Arlington, Darrington, and surrounding areas ensure their child’s car seat is installed safely and correctly.

Appointments can be scheduled by phone or email or by completing the Car Seat Safety Check Request Form. A Child Passenger Safety Technician will contact you with available appointment times and may request additional information if needed.

You must complete and return the Car Seat Safety Check Form at least 24 hours before the appointment to hold the scheduled time.

Car seat safety checks are recommended for anyone who wants to confirm proper car seat installation or has questions about car seat safety. This includes the following groups:

  • Expecting parents
  • Families with new car seats or vehicles
  • Caregivers such as grandparents, relatives, babysitters, and agencies transporting children under 4’9”

Before the appointment, families complete the Car Seat Safety Check Form with details about the child, vehicle, and car seat. Appointment length varies, but a typical check for one child takes about 30 minutes and is usually scheduled on weekdays.

Caregivers are required to install the seat to the best of their ability before coming in, and bringing the child is encouraged when possible.

During the visit, the Child Passenger Safety Technician will review the car seat installation, answer questions, provide safety recommendations, and guide caregivers through proper installation.

A documented checklist is completed, and caregivers receive take-home resources on next steps and safe sleep when applicable.

Unless otherwise noted, car seat safety checks will take place at the Stilly Valley Health Connections office in Arlington. Directions and location information are available on our Contact Us page.

Events may also take place at the Darrington Fire Station.

We do not supply or sell car seats. Our Child Passenger Safety Technicians ensure car seats are safe and appropriate for the child’s age, height, and weight, but they do not provide materials or car seats.

Families needing a free car seat may contact Two Hearts Pregnancy Aid, which provides new car seats to Snohomish County residents for children newborn to age 2.
