Germbusters in Our Schools

Germbusters teaches young students the basics of proper handwashing and how germs spread through a short, interactive classroom presentation.

Each workshop includes a short story, UV light activity, student take-home materials, and all supplies needed for a hands-on learning experience.

About Germbusters

Germbusters presentations are short classroom sessions that help early elementary students learn and practice effective handwashing skills.

Schools in Arlington and Darrington can request a Germbusters presentation by calling 360-386-9918 or contacting us online. Most scheduling occurs directly between schools and program staff based on annual availability.

Germbusters is designed for kindergarten through second grade students and works best in a classroom setting where children can listen to a brief story and then practice handwashing. We currently offer these presentations in Arlington and Darrington.

Each presentation includes a 20- to 25-minute presentation focused on handwashing and germ prevention.

Students listen to the book “Buddy Bear’s Handwashing Troubles” and then apply a special lotion before testing their handwashing under a UV light to see missed areas. Every student receives a Germbusters sticker and a parent note summarizing what they learned.

All materials and supplies are provided, although we ask schools to supply three to four volunteers to assist.
